I did not get the Christmas present I wanted the most. "What?" you say. "How do you know already? Christmas isn't until next week." Yes, but I got my period last week.

I cried.

We've decided not to go to the doctor until it's officially been 1 year of trying. So for the next four months I'm going on a vitamin/herbal regimen to see if it helps. I'm taking my regular vitamins (calcium, vitamin E, prenatal vitamin, and biotin) plus the following:

• Vitamin B complex
• Vitex (also known as Chasteberry)
• Dong Quai
• False Unicorn Root

These are all recommended by ONNA, a support group for infertility. I have no idea if they'll work or if there will be some sort of placebo effect. The description for False Unicorn Root says, "Some specialists warn not to take this herb unless you want to get pregnant!" I hope it works.

The Scientist is supportive, but skeptical. He wants to see some double-blind medical studies where these things are proven to work. I figure it can't hurt and it makes me feel better to think that I'm doing something, rather than just waiting.
